Wishing I did a 2-year postbac research instead of 1

I’m about to finish my 1-year postbac research before starting summer rotation for MSTP and I cant shake the feeling of wishing I did 2 years instead.

Which is insane because I’ve been doing research for basically 4 years now and Im so glad to be closer to getting a PhD of my own. But my postbac research was really interesting and although I get to wrap up a couple aims of the project, I still feel like im leaving in the middle of things.

Don‘t get me wrong, I’m very grateful to have been accepted and Im looking forward to starting mdphd, but this feeling keeps getting amplified the closer my end date approaches and people in my lab brings up how much I will be missed.

Anyone felt like this? What did you do?
