CPA Advice - Concurrent Modules

Advice

Hey all,

I am looking for advice with the CPA (in Canada if that helps). I recently got hired to be an accounting lead, and while there was no requirement to BE a CPA, they wanted someone who was pursuing it, which I am. I'm planning to take Core 2 on its own this summer, but in the fall I'm considering the idea of taking two modules at once (my electives - performance management and finance). There's no timeline to get the CPA, but I just want it done ASAP.

I made sure the exams fell on different days, same with the workshops so that base is covered. But the question is, is this a path one recommends? It's a full-time job obviously, but I have done Core 1 while doing full time work, so it's not a foreign concept.

My boss (the controller) is super nice, and even told me if my work is done (i.e., not month end craze), she'd be fine with me doing some CPA work during work hours paid. But even with that, I am unsure if that would offset the workload of two modules at once. Perhaps the fact that corporate year end is in May means that doing 2 modules in the fall, AFTER fiscal year end might make it easier to manage the workload but I'm unsure.

Just wanting to feel out the options and see what everyone else thinks. Has anyone done this before and can tell in their chronicles? Thanks everyone!
