Peer Support for Heart Failure

Hi everyone,

I'm a researcher who studies peer support groups in medical contexts, and I also live with cardiomyopathy and heart failure myself. I wanted to ask a genuine question, not to recruit anyone or start anything formal, just out of curiosity and personal interest:

Would having a peer support group - people around your age, with a similar type or stage of heart failure - actually be helpful for you?

I know this sub has a really wide range of people: different ages, different kinds and stages of HF. The experience of a 35-year-old navigating a new DCM diagnosis feels pretty different from someone who's been managing HF for years, and I wonder whether connecting with people in a similar situation would feel more relevant or meaningful to some of you. Personally, I'd be really interested in accessing this kind of support, and I wish I had that opportunity earlier in my diagnosis.

Just genuinely curious what you all think. Would love to hear your honest take, or if you've accessed peer support before (one-to-one, group context) what that's been like for you.
