I recently got those beauties and really like them.

However I realized there were some different versions but I haven't found much information about it. As you hopefully can see in the pics the two small coaches are a bit different: on the first coach the red paint as well as the grey of the roof is a different shade than on the second coach. It also seems that they used a different paint: on one coach you can see the wood structure through the paint, on the other one you can't. These coach was also sold with Mallard from the "Trains of the World" series (33413) as well as seperately (33626)

Also it seems like there are at least two more version of Flying Scotsman. The one I have seems to be from the "Trains of the World" series (33433) and is dark green. It must have had the sticker of the Brio logo in red and yellow which somehow must have come off. Then there's the Flying Scotsman in "army green" which was sold seperately and hat the black and white Brio logo on the back of the tender. And than there was the Flying Scotsman train set (33688), which seems to have a dark green Flying Scotsman again, but with a black and white Brio sticker on the back of the tender.

The GWR engine "Lord of the Isles" from the "Trains of the World" (33430)series seems to have had two different versions: one with a nail in the smokebox door (the one I have) and one without a nail.

Mallard was sold as part of the "Trains of the World" series with a coach (33413), seperately (33414) as well as in it's own train set with LNER coaches (33191). It seems to me that Mallard was 't changed throughout the different sets.

Last there are the teak LNER coaches. They weren't sold seperately, but it seems like the ones from the Flying Scotsman train set (33688) have a lighter shade of teak as well as dark grey bogies, while the ones from the Mallard train set (33191) have black bogies and a darker shade of teak. The second version of the LNER coach also came in the "Mighty Black set" (33032).

Do you have any of these for comparison? Do you know more about these? And do you know how those engines fit (size-wise) with the Express coaches from the Thomas and Friends Wooden Railway range?

Question on different versions
