Sponsor for green card barely makes enough
Hi everyone, I would like to get some insight preferably from people who have gone through a similar situation.
I was brought as a minor to the US under a very weak asylum case, it has been pending for over eight years at this point so we know we are most likely to not get an approval. Anyway, fast forward to now I will marry my high school sweetheart, and we are currently trying to find out everything regarding sponsorship for a green card.
We don’t live together at the moment, but we have a very strong case with conversations over the years, it’s been five years since we met each other, we’ve taken trips with pictures as well, and we plan to move in together in January 2027.
The problem is that we are certain that we might get a request for a joint sponsor,, given that he doesn’t make a ton of money, the required income for two people in my state is $27,500 and last year he made 28,000,, so, in theory we should be fine, we’ve even planned to combine my assets with his which would have put us in a good situation, but he changed jobs and he might not be making the same money this year, I don’t have a stable job at the moment because I’m finishing college and I only have my mediocre student job that gives me $12,000 a year, and I have $10,000 in my savings account.
I’m confident I will have a job right out of college because I have the necessary contacts And will have a bachelor degree and a certification. My dad can also make me the co-owner of his small business that made $12,000 last year. Not sure if this sounds like a viable case. we’re finding it very hard to get a joint sponsor so we would like to avoid that route if possible.
What do you guys think? Is this case a loss? I’ve been very stressed in the last few days. And would love to get any insight that helps.
