Executive functioning issues but can’t take stimulants.

Advice Request

N1 here. I’m almost thirty and have been diagnosed for nine years. In that time, I’ve tried Ritalin, modafinil, and sunosi as far as stimulants go. I currently take xyrem and pregabalin at night.

Unfortunately all stimulants just fuel insomnia for me, so I haven’t been able to stay on any (yes, even if taken first thing in the morning). Even B12 can cause insomnia in my case.

I work part time and have two kids under two, my youngest is only two months. I’m a therapist so I feel like I should be able to figure this out, but I cannot keep track of things or get tasks done. My husband does the grocery shopping on Fridays and all I could think of to put on the list today was chocolate chips because I don’t know how to even feed myself.

I take care of my kids just fine, but cleaning (especially laundry) piles up and my days just disappear in front of me. Sometimes I don’t even shower for like four days. I use the reminders app for so many things and that helps but only so much.

Anyone else in a similar boat? What’s working well for you? I thrive with external structure, but there is very little of that in my life. Even my job doesn’t have much.
