Is my 3080 at risk playing this game?

A month or so ago after the last big patch on a thread about performance issues, someone told me that they had received a warning upon starting the game stating something like playing jump space can brick certain GPUs including 3080s. Is there any truth to this? I'm very interested in getting back into the game with my friends, but it is not worth risking my GPU to play if that's remotely possible.
