The Burden of The Sphere of Light

When the Great God called Adam from the garden, He placed a sphere of singular, piercing light into his hands. "This is the Law of the Sequence," God said. "It is the truth that A is A, and nothing else. Carry it to your sons."

Adam returned to the world, but the light was an affront. Where men wanted to believe a lie was a truth, the light revealed the contradiction. Where they wanted to hide their motives in the shifting gray, the light cast shadows so sharp they cut like glass. Men hated the light, for it stripped them of their excuses and left them nowhere to hide their inconsistencies.

To find peace in their delusions, Adam’s sons buried the sphere deep in the cold earth.

Eons passed until the earth was turned once more. When the sphere was unearthed, its brilliance had not dimmed. Again, men recoiled. They found that while the light allowed them to build towers that did not fall and machines that functioned with precision, it also forbade them from believing what they merely wished to be true. It forced them to acknowledge that a thing cannot both be and not be at the same time.

And they resented the clarity that fueled their progress. They craved the soft, dishonest comfort of the shadows over the light that revealed all. So, for a second time, they choked the light with dirt and stone.

But in burying the Truth, they severed their own sight. They called the light darkness, and the darkness light. They did not realize that by extinguishing the logic of the light, they had ensured that they could only walk in darkness.
