Ontario: Obtaining Your Insurance License Despite Past Charges?
Hey all,
I'm a salesperson in Ontario whos thinking of making the jump to insurance after a pretty compelling attempt to poach me by a prospect I visited for my current business.
At the moment, I know very little about what is on offer for me. Not sure if I would be going for OTL, RIBO or something else. But I think I could probably do well in insurance. Thing is, before I even begin to entertain the thought, I have to know - How do the licensing body/ies view past charges that resulted in findings of not guilty?
In my particular case, it was an assault charge, found not guilty at trial and a connected breach of conditions charge that was dropped shortly after first appearance. These both occured about 7-6 years ago and dismissal(s) took place over 5 years ago. I've had no interaction with police or courts since.
Has anyone else dealt with this and mind sharing their insights? Is there anything I should or shouldnt do in regards to these matters if I do forge ahead with this? As a bonus, anything else at all I should be keeping in mind as a potential new entrant to the industry?
