Just gotta talk a bit

Motivation

45M 5'10 roughly 170lbs give or take.

Started out getting my health back in order after just kinda letting it run away for about 20 years. I got up to about 235lbs at my heaviest. That was like the late summer of '24. Blood pressure and stuff kind of decided I needed an intervention and let me know it was time to get right or get dead ya know how it goes.

It took about a year but I got down to 160 and now I'm really proud and happy with the results at 170. Lot of running, quit drinking, squared away the dietary habits. It gave me a newfound appreciation for just how much effort goes into getting right in the middle of life can be.

I didn't get into GLPs or TRT or anything like that. I have nothing but respect for people that feel the need for that option. I love that it exists for them. I just didn't feel like it was gonna be necessary for me. And luckily I ended up being right. Things went better than I could have hoped for.

But damnit... It is so hard to just be happy with where you're at sometimes. Especially with social media and you see people able to leverage this stuff to turn off the food noise (which is still a big problem for me).

I have a very small amount of fat left around the lower gut and love handles where like basically everyone keeps it. And it is just messing with me so much. I hate that it bugs me at all. In fact I suspect that if I lose it I would probably be too lean for overall health. Which is the whole reason I started this journey to begin with.

And so now it's the mental aspect that I'm really trying to subdue. I know I need to be not just content but ecstatic. I think most people would look in the mirror and think they've made it. Mission accomplished. But there's just that nagging impulse that keeps whispering "hey yeah but what if...?"

So... I guess you're probably wondering just like I am right now: what's the point of all this? And I guess I just wanted to put this out there and hear from people that maybe are struggling with similar situations and emotions. How you're dealing with it etc.

And also to kind of let other people know that if you are feeling this way you ain't alone. I see so many posts from people on this sub and others that are looking for reassurance and approval etc. Men and women that look great and are in amazing shape that just feel compelled to chase that extra bit. It's a life long journey guys. Enjoy it for what it is and be grateful that we are alive and well enough to be on it.
