Can you edit music assets for your game?

This is probably a dumb question, but I have no idea how liscensing works for music assets. I was thinking I could buy a music bundle from Humble Bundle and then edit the songs instead of making them from scratch since my time is limited. Is that ok to do or no, or does it depend on the asset.
