Is the Art of Product Copywriting Dead?
One of the most difficult things to do is to sell a product to someone you've never met, based entirely on a product or landing page. You have to:
- Grab their attention immediately, so they don't bounce
- Convince them that you have the solution to their specific problem
- Help them understand and trust your solution
- Get them to sign up
- Keep them from churning once they're a customer
Succeeding at each one of those areas is a tall order. Copywriting was how you broke down those psychological barriers to gain trust, traction and momentum.
But, in the age of AI-generated content, which tends to be formulaic, middle of the road and non-compelling, I'm feeling like the art of good copywriting is being lost.
The competition for eyeballs and attention has never been higher.
I think good copywriting is needed now more than ever.
