Universal MAF Sensor? 2013 Dodge Journey SXT AWD 3.6L

I recently purchased a 2013 Dodge Journey SXT AWD 3.6L. It has a few problems I'll have to address to get it road worthy, one of which appears to be a MAF Sensor. I've been looking for a place to buy it if it ends up needing replaced and OEM options are out of stock but a few places offer a universal MAF Sensor. I know that "universal" is BS more often than not so I wanted to ask if universal MAF Sensors actually work correctly and what I need to look for if I have to go with one.

I won't have a chance to get into diag until tomorrow afternoon so right now I'm just gathering information based on what seems to be the problem.
