Loving it

I have a few thousand hours in city builder, colony management type games and finally got around to Farthest Frontier. I am absolutely loving it. It does executes on so many of the genera’s core gameplay loops in such perfect balance. City planning, resource/production, threat/defense, progression tree, it’s at least A tier in all of them.

I’ve done my usual thing and progressed a few colonies to certain points in the mid game then restarting to implement what I’ve learned. Last night I put a few hours into a new colony and things were going very well until I realized that I didn’t have a fletcher working so my hunters were stalled and food was low. As I was solving this problem a fire struck at the exact time of the first raid and everything burned down. It was late so I went to bed thinking, “well played Farthest Frontier… I’ll see you tomorrow.”
