The classic question: how can we make army good?(warning, LONG)

Discussion

I really REALLY badly want to run an army build,

Clone army plus very strong plus warrior culture and tech to make the ultimate soldier sounds badass!
Imagine a universe where a species can physically fight you 1-30! Thats sick!

Unfortunately, it’s completely useless,

fleets are generally faster than Armies,

fleets can annihilate planets, granted with less speed and with more infrastructure damage, but sometimes you want to damage infrastructure in order to cripple an

enemy,
and when an army is in a system that doesn’t have planets, they have nothing to do,

along with that many perks that are related to army strength current just go unused because they don’t have a purpose.

So how do we fix armies? Several mods just blatantly make armies overpowered, so that they can do shit like cost one mineral and blow up an enemy frigate, some mods just remove army from being useful at all, some mods make them apply to your national military rank for the galactic council, and those are perfectly valid, but what if we simply changed the sphere that armies operate around?

One massive flaw with armies is that they’re on a boat, if the enemy has a star base in the system, they will basically always engage with that star base, stopping any invasion and making the enemy only really have to worry about your fleet, so what if armies could charge past enemy fleets or bases? They could exchange a couple Corps In exchange for hitting the enemy, this would be balanced because the enemy can still set up forts, shields, or simply have enough power around planets to stop any landings, in exchange, you could make a large army to decapitate enemy planet resources if they don’t guard well enough.

On top of that, what if armies could also play more of a supportive role? Maybe if fleets can eventually repair on planets, than armies can land on enemy planets, or on unoccupied shitter planets in order to open a repair bay in exchange for the army taking huge amounts of attrition,

Or maybe a political role, what if your army gives you stability based on how many land troops are on a planet? A world made entirely of slaves and soldiers could be viable for stopping a revolt from instability.

And we could always take the classic approach of letting armies board fleets.

Clearly not all of my ideas are particularly thought out, and obviously some of these are overpowered, but frankly I want my Viltrumites/Jedi/qu/Space marines/whatever, to actually DO anything aside from make my planets capitulate moderately slower, or take enemy planets moderately faster
