switch lite vs standard switch for new player?

Looking at buying either a refurbed old switch or a switch lite (tomodachi life fomo has me deciding to save up for one haha) i'm so green to all this, but saw the old switch and switch lite are basically the same price. i don't really have any friends who have one if that makes a difference, i'd probably mostly play portable games like tomodachi, animal crossing, mario etc in bed lol or between study periods next year (uni student.)

what are the main differences/which way should i lean?? overwhelmed with the spec info as this really isn't my thing. thanks!
