Help finding radio broadcasts from the 1944 and 1946 World Series

Hey fellow Cardinals fans,

I’ve been researching old Cardinals radio broadcasts for a while now, especially World Series broadcasts from the 1940s, and I’ve run into two major missing pieces that I cannot seem to find anywhere online. As far as I can tell, there is currently no publicly available recording of:

  • 1944 World Series Game 5 (Cardinals vs. Browns)
  • 1946 World Series Game 7 (Cardinals vs. Red Sox)

These are obviously massive games in franchise history, especially the 1946 Game 7 ending, and I find it hard to believe that no recordings survived somewhere. I’ve already reached out to the Cardinals Hall of Fame & Museum, the Missouri Historical Society and the St. Louis Public Library to see if they have archival material or leads. I figured I’d ask here too because if anybody would know where to look, it would probably be this community.

Does anyone know of:

  • private collectors,
  • university/media archives,
  • old radio preservation groups,
  • obscure websites,
  • or even partial recordings/transcriptions

that might contain these broadcasts or information about them? Even confirmation that the recordings once existed would be helpful. Below is a link to the YouTube playlist that I have started:

Thanks!
