Let me preface this by saying this. I’ve personally been a driver with amazon for about 3 years now. My DSP incentivizes us to finish our routes (despite breaks, which is coming back to bite us in the ass now) so across the board, all our drivers have on the low end, about 180 stops a day. Some non-helper routes get around 200 stops before multi’s a day. I’m also a regular CDV driver … So this review won’t be for the average driver ..With that being said here’s my honest review after my maiden voyage yesterday.

My first day in this fucker was not an acclimation day 😂 I had 180 with 68 of those being multi stops in apartments .

You still sweat the EXACT SAME despite the AC in the seats. Granted we’re in south Florida so it’s to be expected . Every time you exit the vehicle , the AC shuts off so there’s no benefit there.

The screens on the dash and center console issue… the center console displays your route (upside down) while the dash one is the more accurate GPS. You know …right where your steering wheel is turning all day . I found it a little distracting.

We have android devices so the charge plate doesn’t work with our phones( we have to keep them plugged in and the EDV sucks at charging) so my device died towards the end of the route naturally. Leaving my dash screens blind. Fortunately I have the flex app on my personal phone but it’s not like you can be holding that mother fucker. And amazon did a really cool thing by removing the “change vehicle option” so I couldn’t sync my personal phone to the EDV. Until you can get a Pugh battery back on the Initial device, those stops do not go away. So unless you wanna spend time talking to driver support , charge that bitch back up and allow it to re-sync. You’re also gonna need it to do your end of the day checklist anyway.

Also, you know those red dot stops you see in your itinerary ? This show up as stops now . So you’re gonna have to find that package , pick it up and deliver it . 🙄

The only few benefits I personally found was …
Quicker access through any door so long as you keep the key fob on you . And the space. It handles well enough and the regen braking isn’t as big a deal as I thought it’d be …. But that’s it.

Idk man.. I think the only people
That may enjoy it are people that drive the smaller regular delivery vans (if they can look past the fact that they’re the same size as CDVs) I know a lot of our drivers are intimidated by bigger vehicles . In the long run, I think this will force my DSP to take all our breaks (which will definitely lower our stop count) but I feel it’s gonna keep everyone out the full 10 hour day .

I really don’t wanna discourage anyone but these are my personal thoughts .

Honest EDV review…
