Did the registration and sales tax hit anyone else way harder than expected?
I feel like everyone talks about the cost of the rig, the fuel, or the constant repairs, but nobody really warns you about the tax and registration bill until you're standing at the DMV.
Seeing $15k or $20k+ just vanish instantly into taxes feels like a massive gut punch, especially when you realize it’s a sunk cost you can’t get back. I’ve noticed a lot of people just treat it as an unavoidable part of the process, but then you meet the "pros" who seem to have figured out ways to structure their registration differently before they even signed the papers.
For those of you who’ve bought a rig recently, did you actually budget for the full tax hit beforehand, or did it end up being a total surprise at the end?
