This happened to my Thiers on the first day of wearing, what do I do?

I got the shoes two days ago and today was the first day of wearing them, and this happened to the side, basically the leather peeled off. I did not hit anything, so I have no idea how this happened. I am still in the return window but the shoe has been worn, so I am not sure how the return or exchange works with Paraboot. I bought it from Breuninger in the Netherlands (German company).

Anyone has any idea what I should do?
