Construction estimator

I’m curious in this job, I looking to get an accounting degree but being an accountant I found out I didn’t like. I like learning about accounting and how money works but the accountant job itself I don’t like. What should I know about this job and some tips I should know. one really dumb question do you guys sometimes go on sights to check supplies? Sorry for such a noob question, google was being very vague about the job.
