Breathing and Digestion Problems
Hey, I’m 22F, I am relatively healthy, live a pretty active lifestyle and don’t smoke or drink. I also don’t eat gluten or dairy and try to stay away from sugar for personal reasons.
Over the past few months I have been developing this breathing problem where I feel like I can’t take a full deep breath (I essentially have to yawn to try and feel like I’m getting enough oxygen). It doesn’t happen all the time though, it comes and goes a lot depending on how unhealthy my diet is and where I’m working, however, when I have it, it always flares up really bad when I am trying to go to sleep at night.
Recently it has been getting worse and worse, being unable to sleep at night because I feel like I’m suffocating without a proper breath. Even when I yawn or breathe from my diaphragm, it takes about 10 tries to actually get a proper deep breath.
It seems to also be linked to some sort of indigestion (which I have never had before until this started) because I keep vomiting up in my mouth when I sit up really quickly after trying to take deep breaths at night and sometimes even when I’m running up stairs during a flare up. Also, when I can burp it feels like pressure is released and it’s easier to take deep breaths.
My only theory at the moment is it might be linked to some sort of mold poisoning, one of the buildings I work in is well ventilated but it definitely has a leaking roof, not enough sunlight and stinks like mold when the aircon is off. I also just recently moved out of a house that was moldy on the inside.
I do also have a history of iron deficiency which might be linked to the feeling of not getting enough oxygen.
I am just really anxious about it at the moment because I can never fall asleep because I feel like I can’t breathe and the doctor I went to didn’t seem to take it seriously. Sometimes when I take melatonin at night it seems to help me to take deep breaths more often.
If anyone can point me in the right direction of what might be the issue/cause or specifically what I can ask my doctor about? Any tips or hints would be greatly appreciated as I just want to get rid of this!
