Garmin 130 Plus (commentary)

I was on the hunt for simple, compact, easy-to-read, and distraction-free GPS units. After extensive research, I decided to purchase a few used Garmin 130 Plus GPS units. Although they’re discontinued, they’re still widely available.

The breadcrumb navigation system is far superior to any GPS with a map. Simply follow a line and make your own decisions. It works seamlessly with the Varia Radar. Despite its small size, it’s readable under direct sunlight. In my opinion, it’s the ideal GPS for anyone who wants a straightforward and efficient device.

So, why am I mentioning this? As I was browsing the market, I noticed a trend of brands attempting to create GPSs that resemble smartphones with extended battery life. This is unfortunate. I wish they would develop more GPSs based on the 130 model.
