Thinking about eloping at Sand Harbor in Lake Tahoe? Here’s the stuff people usually don’t realize until they’re already stressed out trying to plan it. 😂

Sand Harbor is BEAUTIFUL, but it’s also one of the most regulated and crowded spots around Tahoe during peak season, especially summer.

**A few things to know:**

**• You can’t just randomly set up a ceremony anywhere in the park**
There are designated ceremony locations you have to reserve through Nevada State Parks. If you just show up with chairs, an arch, a setup, etc… park staff will absolutely notice.

**• Parking becomes chaos FAST**
During summer, Sand Harbor regularly hits capacity early in the day. I’m talking lines of cars waiting outside the entrance. Timing matters A LOT here.

**• Lighting completely changes the vibe**
Midday = bright blue/turquoise tropical-looking water.
Sunset = moodier tones, softer light, more romantic/dramatic feel.
Both are gorgeous, just very different aesthetics.

**• The beach gets BUSY... did I mention busy? LOL.**
People kayaking, swimming, families everywhere, tourists climbing rocks behind your ceremony lol. You definitely want a strategy if privacy matters to you.

**• The wind can sneak up on you**
Especially later in the day. Veils and lightweight dresses start living their own lives out there sometimes. 😂

When planned correctly, Sand Harbor is one of the prettiest elopement locations in Tahoe. This location really does feel freakin unreal in person.
