May 16 Narc Club: Core | Topic: Oops, All Trauma Bond (Breakups and Exes)

Resources

Saturday | 11 am – 1 pm EST | via Zoom

FACILITATORS: Max + TBD

DISCUSSION PROMPTS:

  • What part of a breakup tends to hurt most: losing the person, losing the role they played in your identity, losing admiration/validation, feelings of abandonment or rejection, or simply the feeling of ‘losing’ in general?
  • Do you tend to idealize exes after a relationship ends, devalue them to survive the loss, or something else? Elaborate.
  • How do you tend to react when an ex seems genuinely happy without you? What stories do you tell yourself about what this means?
  • Have you ever stayed emotionally attached to someone mostly because you couldn’t tolerate the idea of them moving on? Say more.
  • What’s something an ex was right about that you didn’t want to hear at the time?
  • Have you ever been able to maintain a healthy friendship with an ex after a breakup? If so: what do you think allowed you to do that?
  • What relationship patterns are you finally getting tired of repeating? How do you think you’d like to approach relationships differently?
