What is even Murakami's hype all about? (PS: just finished Norwegian wood)

Dont get me wrong, im just trying to understand what is his hype all about. (Ik he is a great author)

After finishing Norwegian wood, i was like um?what?

Like i was so unsatisfied and thought what even is the point of this story? This book?

It just was a sad journey, cant get it out of my head. I dont think Midori deserved that. If Naoko had never died he wouldnt have chosen midori.

A sad sad story which had no plot, felt incomplete and unsatisfying.

Lemme know if all of Murakami's books are same like this one or should i give him one more shot:)
