Meet my character, a vampire stormcloak, with his followers. Vanilla, no mod at all.
There are 10 current followers (based on sequence of recruiting)

1. Faendal
2. Katria the Ghost
3. Serana
4. Brother Verulus
5. Thonnir
6. Mercer Frey
7. Barbas the Insufferable Pup
8. Riekling Warrior
9. Dead Thrall Nightmaster Vampire
10. Dead Thrall Master Vampire

For the mount, I think of Shadowmere, Arvak, and Daedric horse but I'm too lazy to do the quest. Unicorn is not bad, and there is the magical thing, free and easy, got it after recruiting Faendal.

For Katria, I managed to get her appearance more human and less ghostly by giving her a set of armor with higher armor value than her standard outfit (by smithing). I gave her vampire royal armor, vampire boots, vampire gloves, and vampire leather hood.

I think this is my best squad so far in 2 years of playing Skyrim. I like having my followers do the killing and I just watch. Problem is of course pathing in tight areas, especially with Barbas that keeps pushing.
