Pregnancy norms in your country/culture that would be side eyed?

Funny

Hi everyone! I found out I’m expecting yesterday, and I’ve been thinking about how much pregnancy advice seems to vary depending on where you live and what culture you grew up in.

I thought this could be a fun question:

What is something that’s considered totally normal or even encouraged during pregnancy in your culture/country that might be seen as unsafe, unusual, or just plain weird somewhere else?

For example, in the U.S., people are often told to avoid deli meat unless it’s heated, be very careful with sushi/soft cheeses, and limit caffeine pretty strictly.

I’d love to hear the differences—food, traditions, old wives’ tales, postpartum practices, anything!
