snag yourself a chaotically yappy gaming nerd girl! | friendship first | will also make you feel things with my piano skills
Hello Reddit! "Date your bestie" kind of girl here, presently without a bestie to date, so I'm looking to do something about that! I'm kind of an introvert and loner by default, but at the same time easily talkative and can hold a convo on a lot of random topics, I'm serious when needed and foundationally goofy, and I'm more straightforward than subtle. Looking for someone (generally 23+) to start with as friends - get to know each other and get comfortable, make memories, develop in-jokes, beat one or two games together, maybe flirt occasionally, etc., so that feelings can sprout naturally rather than from an explicit "we're trying to date" premise. If you vibe with that, hi there hello, nice to meet you! I live in Europe and so I'm also looking for someone not too far away (Europe/UK/etc.). Before you continue reading, consider grabbing yourself a tea or coffee because this post might run a little long :P I swear it's already a very condensed version though!
Okay, now some more info about me so you have a clearer idea. I'm a major homebody and my main interests are gaming, anime/manga, learning Japanese, and playing piano. It's also not out of the question that I might have a very minor case of serious brain damage (if you don't recognize this line and you like puzzles, I urge you to play Portal 2 - it's a masterpiece for a reason). I like to yap and to listen to other people's unfiltered yapping - I'm never gonna think "why did she say that", I will only ever think "yes, and..." I enjoy discussions on many topics, all the way from philosophy to programming to language learning to coffee making to Minecraft mods to nothing-burger internet drama. I'm also kinda missing the teensy little skill people call "taking a hint", so feel free to tell me things directly. The perfect relationship for me is essentially "super close and special friends (who are also into each other)", which might not be very conventionally romantic, but so be it - I feel that regularly hopping into a shared game playthrough with a partner and having fun playing + joking around together is the ultimate form of love and I'm not gonna pretend otherwise.
Now getting more into mundane details, I study computer science and do related work on the side, both with a flexible schedule, so it's easy to make plans with me! I am generally looking for an older person because I've always connected with older people better than with peers. Also, as I've been alluding to, I get along with people mainly by doing things together (generally one-on-one), particularly gaming, so I hope you'll have the time and interest to play games with me! I like co-op rather than PVP, and also I like survivals and RPGs. My favorite game of all time is Minecraft, particularly modded, because it can just give so many different experiences. Fun fact - I even developed a Minecraft mod for a commission once! Anyway, if you like Minecraft too, then our game tastes will most certainly be compatible. I have quite a few other co-op games in my library, so I'll provide an actual list at the end of the post for the curious. I'm open to trying new games too!
Let's suppose you're interested. What now? I suggest that we hop on a call, chat to get to know each other a bit and see the vibe, and then play something low-commitment to see our game chemistry. Out of the games I've played, for the first session I can recommend Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop (free, session-based), Deep Rock Galactic (session-based), Unturned (free, not session-based but early game is easy to enjoy without committing to a playthrough), and Portal 2 (co-op classic for a reason). I'm open to other suggestions of course! If you're down, all you have to do now is DM me with a self-introduction and we'll get the ball rolling. And don't worry, I don't bite! Well, unless you're into that :D Regardless of whether you decide to reach out or not though, thank you for reading and have a nice day! Here, take a medal for reaching the end of the main body 🎖️
P.S. Here's the actual list of my co-op games. In each category, I also sorted them by interest in descending order (and yes, I'm a lot of fun at parties):
- Top games I want to play: V Rising (atmospheric vampire survival with boss fights), Minecraft (modded), Terraria, No Man's Sky (space survival with procedurally generated planets).
- Games I've played extensively but can totally play more: Portal 2, Unturned, Remnant II, Palworld.
- Games I've played only a little: Once Human, Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop, Deep Rock Galactic, Stardew Valley, Sons Of The Forest, Don't Starve Together.
- Games I have in the library and haven't tried yet: Grounded, Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter World, Far Cry 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, Valheim, Borderlands 3, Dying Light, ARK: Survival Evolved, The Forest.
