People who live at home how much are you really saving? Is my current structure too loose?

I thought I was doing well but a guy at work puts half of each paycheck to stocks (lives at home).

Other people at work only give themselves $300-500/fortnight to work with and this includes eating out with friends!

I thought my $600/fn was overly generous BUT to be fair I’ve had a few expenses (friends coming over from interstate, renewing my sports club member ship etc). And I’ve been paying myself back for money I “borrowed” from my savings to pay the start up cost for this job $1K. This is my current split:

~2K after tax and salary packaging deducted

50% to *house fund
10% emergency fund
10% work memberships, work licence, work insurance, car rego etc. (These total $1,500)
$50 to invest

This leaves about $600 in my checking account, plus $460 salary packaging ($100 for takeout ans $350 for groceries or rent or petrol etc) for the **fortnight**

And I’ve only had 5 pay checks so I thought I’d be more stingy later. I’ve allowed myself things I never did during uni like parking near work, having food with friends or buying lunch at work once a week or fortnight.

I don’t have any expenses (rent, bills etc). But I do now run my own car (rego, insurance etc. Are now all in my name).

*unsure about my future atm, so this is my house deposit but may not be used as such. I’ll have more clarity in my later years (I’m 23 and single as of now)
