Why do people always talk like they are surprised by the passage of time?

It's so common and socially accepted that the passage of time is faster than expected, I have to pretend like I'm surprised too.

"Can you believe it's already may?"

"Yeah, time sure flies! Hah"

Honestly though? Yes. I can believe what date it is.

"Can you believe it's 2026 already?"

Yes. I can. Time moves linearly. It feels the same all the time. I can absolutely believe the passage of time has happened. I was there.

Why does everyone on the planet think it's unbelievable that time has moved forward? It happened... It'll happen again.

Next month prediction: people will be saying "can you believe it's already June?"

Yes. I believe it.
