Theory: Aglae is not Chrysalis
Aglae is a character many have speculated to be the new butterfly holder. She's dressed in all purple and is conveniently missing whenever an akumatised villain appears. However, I don't think she's Lila. Here are some of my points :
- Her being a villain would screw up her character development. She has her own dedicated episode (somewhat)-"Wreckless Driver." If she turned out to be bad, the positive message about overcoming fears would just be... Ruined, I guess. It'll go from "you need to support your friends; healing takes time; etc." to "people with phobias are actually liars" or something like that.
- She seems too much of a red herring. Okay, sure, Gabriel being Hawkmoth was pretty obvious. However, I don't think Lila/Cerise would be this obvious with her lies and manipulation, and I don't think the show would frame everything as it does if she were Chrysalis.
So who is Aglae?
My take is that she's whoever releases the ultrakumas. Remember how Gabriel used to imbue normal butterflies with whatever dark power he had? We never see the mysterious person make a megakuma. At least not as far as I can remember.
But why would she do that?
My theory is that it has to do with her backstory. Remember how in "Wreckless Driver" she talked about being akumatized in the butterfly room? My take is that she concealed some information.
We know that Lila/Cerise is enrolled in the school. We know she's present. But we don't know where her lair is. In my theory, it's in the butterfly room.
So here's my theory in full:
It starts with Aglae getting pushed into the butterfly room. There, she's not only scared by butterflies - she meets Chrysalis. She immediately realizes everything. Chrysalis, even though she's taken off-guard, decides to take advantage of the situation. She first akumatizes Aglae, and then, sometime after, decided to manipulate her further. She threatens her that if she's not going to do whatever is asked of her, she's going to get akumatised. Aglae, horrified, has no choice but to agree. So Chrysalis uses her to release her megakumas and cause akumatizations. That's why she's always the first to suspect an akumatised villain - she herself has released the megakuma. That's why she's off-screen when the akumatization happens. That's why she's scared of Ladybug - she's afraid she'll get persectued as Chrysalis's accomplice.
Or maybe she's not even the only person who's being manipulated by Chrysalis. The unkown person releasing megakumas could all we different people.
OR maybe she came across Chrysalis somewhere else. Either way, the theory sticks.
And... Yuh, sorry for the horrible English.
