Are new build homes still frowned upon, or generally accepted?

Being slightly older, I remember the nightmare stories from the 90s!
However, now they seem to be super energy efficient with a lot more warranties in place?

Are they generally accepted nowadays, I know you still get some horror stories but I have the option to buy one brand-new so I need some advice
