Creative property fencing ideas for wildlife? [Mi]
Live outside a city in the midwest michigan. Our property needs to be fenced in, after much debate. We own dogs and would like them to be able to explore the entire yard while not worrying they will escape. We are on the edge of the city so we do get deer, coyotes, rabbits, raccoons, groundhogs pheasants, and opossums. I don't care much about deer and coyotes but I would love for the pheasants and smaller animals to still have some access.
Currently looking at 4"x4"square wire fencing, likely 4-5' tall, hopefully i can find higher gauge to withstand weed whipping. Fencing will likely be set back 5-15' x 320' from property line, this is only two side of the property. The setback perimeter we want to plant serviceberry, dogwoods, chokecherry, american plum, ninebark, big blue stem and lil bluestem as well as wildflowers. This area would be on the south and east so mainly gets morning sun only. Probably do some bird boxes too. I realized pheasants can fly over and into the yard of they want but they seems to like waddling around more from my observations.
Open to ideas for wildlife access into our property but also keeping in mind restrictions for the dogs. Interested in outlandish and nonsensical ideas too.
