Could it even be PF related ? Where to start
Hi everybody, I'll be as effective as possible
Please see the medical illustration here. The blue part is the "affected" part.
- 35M
- Groin, butt, and anal sensitivity. Come and go. Been there for 10 years.
- Brings a lot of stress. Or usually starts with stress.
- Can cause constipation, superficial fissures as a result.
- Yes I AM a stressed person, with anxiety, and I'm working on it. AD helped during 2 months then after that it was horrible so now I'm just going with breathing exercises, psychotherapist
- I do less physical activity because the discomfort is greater with heat and sweat
- There is a big suspicion of IBS too
For years I suspected it could linked to some food, or only related to my bowel. But now I've a new symptom where my skin is just super sensitive in the blue part on the attached image. It feels raw, and I tried a lot of things : zinc creams, sport creams to prevent chaffing, different powders, hair removal, etc. There is no redness. No sign of any lesions, the skin looks perfect (as told by dermatologist).
Now hear me out : I've been running these past years, made 5 half marathons with just a bit of vaseline and didn't have an issue. So I don't think walking 50 meters to get a baguette should bring me this chafing sensation.
It feels superficial (hair are sensitive, skin feels hot/cold) but it also feels... Under the skin ? I can't explain. Also, it's mainly on the left and less likely on the right and this assymetry is weird. As if something happened in this region, making the skin above sensitive/a bit inflamed.
- Gastroenterologist : just take laxatives and apply ointment. Did that, not working.
- Dermatologist : no sign of any lesion. Nothing. "Could be a nerve issue" well thank you doc but what are the next steps then ?
- 3 years ago, saw a PF therapist. Told me that there was no hypertonia.
No docs take me seriously despite it has been 10 years. They just say it's stress. Yes, a part of it is, but the discomfort brings a lot of anxiety and it is a vicious circle.
Questions, if you can help me :
- could it even be related to PFD in any way ?
- I tried to look anatomy images : is this more coccyx or sacrum in this part ?
- Is there a main nerve going there ?
- it has been 10 years (with pain coming and disappearing) and I'd like to push my GP for other exams. But I don't even know where to start ?
- did anyone have symptoms there ?
I thank you in advance for your time and your help. I'm seeing my GP tomorrow, and I don't want to not look serious and just say "hey, do a bunch of random exams for me?".
note: also, feeling good to vent a bit.
