Tips for new event please!

As title. I've started playing the new event today, and can't seem to pick up speed with it. I'm still getting coins in the single figures - and putting it back into the skill tree (raising compressor capacity, currency and space for bees - I now have 3 common bees and a baby bee).

Am I missing something?

I'm also playing on a private server, would that make a difference? It seems much slower than the Easter event, and the game itself.

Thanks!
