Crinkle papper

We have some crinkle paper at a regular dollar store around where I live and I want to pick it up for the birds. But no matter how hard I search it doesn’t seem to give me any results on whether or not crinkle paper from regular stores is bird safe?
It would be much easier if I could get it from the store instead of having to order it and Wait weeks. Any ideas?
