(Steam) {Posting here since r/steam and r/steamsupport don't allow discussions of bans} Should I keep trying or just give up?
I had a ban on a game discussions page for containing the word nagger with the a being hidden with spoiler text. Note:(It was on a joke discussion thread that had the title: Enter a title. With a description of "Say somthing". Currently, I realized that some guy went in and reported everything and nearly everyone there got banned or warned, and the discussion got taken down. But I did not realize this at the time) Since it was a reply I thought that the mods thought that I was directing it towards someone.
The discussion:
-------------------"Got temped ban from a forum from saying the word nagger, but I use spoiler text to hide the "a" which is seen as trying to bypass filters to supposedly "say" the word was on a joke discussion; say something.
"Nagger is a real word: It is a person who annoys, complains to, or criticizes others on small issues.
If you apply the "How is it funny" counterargument, it is funny because it makes people get a first impression that its actually the word, but when they hover over the box, its a letter that completes the word as a normal word, it also kinda is a reference to a South Park episode similar to saying bigger, but hiding the b.
It was a ban from a member of steam support, not a forum moderator. Don't understand this ban though."------------------------------
The word was there to show the banned offense, it was not directed towards anyone, but some guy was hinting he would report me, so I edited the word out just in case, but the mods saw the report with the word before I edited it. Then I got a 4 week community ban for it. I've waited more than 48 hours after the temp ban, but it seems like it wasn't enough.
I've tried Steam support several times, all declined and nearly all of them saying the same thing: "contains racist or discriminatory content. This type of content is not allowed on the Steam Community."
It doesn't really make sense. The word nagger is not racist or discrimatory. At least the last mod didn't copy and paste the same response, but said: "Please be advised that interactions with other players should not be abusive, disparaging, or inflammatory, nor create an environment that is unwelcoming." What interaction was any of those? The people replying in the discussion were more inflammatory.
I do understand that half of this is on me. Making the discussion, not waiting long enough, really dumb mistake. But should I keep trying? Or do the steam support win?
Id like to at least have one less community ban stack, and not constantly seeing "You have an account alert."
