Hiking boots on the Primitivo or buy trail runners?

Question

I was planning on wearing Lowa hiking boots (see photo) for the Primitivo end June/beginning July. I wore them last October when doing the GR 221 and had no issues with them, even though it was pretty warm. However, I am reading that most people seem to prefer trail runners or low hiking shoes. I am wondering if it's a good idea to buy those for the Primitivo. I would have about 5 weeks to get used to them before starting the Primitivo.

In any case, I am planning on buying sandals for the evenings and who knows, maybe to hike with on days when the terrain permits it.
