Do I have a case for a successful grade appeal?

Just wrapped up an asynchronous course, and finished with a grade calculation of a 70%. However, my professor gave me an F because I did not satisfy the speech requirement in the class.

The speech requirement was 2 of the 4 speeches must be “completed” , or else students will receive an F for the course. There was no mention or definition of what constitutes completion.

I completed 2/4 speeches, albeit with late submissions. The professors late policy is anything over 4 days late receives a “failing grade”. The first speech was completed 9 days late, and was graded a 50/100. The second one was completed two weeks late and given an 0 (Inconsistency within the grading here as both assignments were over 4 days late, but were graded differently).

I was genuinely curious if this would count as satisfying the speech requirement, but the professor specifically stated in the syllabus to not email her with any questions and grading on late assignments will go by the policies stated in the syllabus. I respected her wishes to not email her, but now I am looking at an F although a 70% calculation for my final grade and 2/4 speeches completed.

If the professor wants to consider late assignments as incomplete, that is 1000% reasonable and I have no issues with that. But if you’re not going to allow students to email you with questions, all policies in the syllabus should be clearly defined and not arbitrary.
