One Story, One Savior – Episode 9 The Scarlet in the Window Written by Gilles L.-C.
Jericho rose like a crown made of stone,
Iron-barred gates and a merciless throne.
A fortress of fear, sealed tight in its pride,
A city of shadows where hope went to hide.
Through whispering alleys, through flickers of flame,
Two hunted men ran from the breath of their name.
The king’s men were searching, the night was alive—
And Rahab stood trembling with more than survival.
She had heard of the sea split open in dread,
Of Pharaoh laid low and the firstborn dead.
Of manna from heaven, of fire and cloud,
Of kings brought to silence, of idols bowed.
So when danger knocked hard at the door of her life,
She chose the unseen over comfort and lies.
Not walls. Not a crown. Not Jericho’s reign—
But the God of the Hebrews she’d never named.
She hid them in stillness, in bundles of flax,
A faith made of footsteps that don’t turn back.
Then spoke not in terror, but trembling belief:
“I know that your God is the God of all things.
“Our hearts melt like wax. All courage is gone.
We’ve heard what He does. We know He is strong.
So swear to me now by the Lord whom you serve,
That mercy will meet me — not what I deserve.”
They said, “When the city is torn from its frame,
Tie a scarlet cord where your window remains.
Gather your household. Stay in this place.
This blood-colored sign will be your mark of grace.”
And there in the wall where the condemned reside,
She knelt with the cord coiled warm at her side.
One thin line of promise in a city of doom,
One breath of redemption in a sealed stone tomb.
She lowered the spies to the dark valley floor,
Then turned to the thread she had never known before.
And when scarlet unfurled in the light of the sun,
A sermon was spoken though her lips made no sound.
Not magic in fiber. Not safety in thread.
But faith made visible, crimson and spread.
A covenant banner, a wordless decree:
“I trust in the mercy of the God who sees.”
Days passed in the tension. The walls did not move.
Just marching and silence like a tightening noose.
But Rahab stayed waiting, not clinging to dust,
But gripping the promise and fastening trust.
Then the seventh day shattered the air with a cry,
And stone folded inward as heaven drew nigh.
The earth heaved and trembled, the proud towers fell,
As judgment came roaring like the opening of hell.
Yet one house stood breathing where death had been poured,
One window still burning with covenant cord.
While kingdoms lay buried in thunder and flame,
Mercy stood living where faith wore a name.
They led her out gently from ruin and smoke,
From the ghost of a life that the world thought she’d chose.
No longer defined by the night she’d survived,
But by the new name God was speaking alive.
From harlot to heir. From outsider to known.
From child of destruction to seed that is sown.
She entered a people. She entered a line—
A story still writing its way into time.
One story, one Savior, one blood that redeems.
For scarlet still hangs in the windows of men,
Not braided from flax — but from nails driven in.
Another stood hunted. Betrayed and denied.
Another was lifted on wood to be tied.
Another was city-forsaken, despised,
His own people calling for death as He died.
Another poured out what no thread ever could—
Not cord from a window, but covenant blood.
The Lamb in the open. The Judge in our place.
The Holy One bearing the weight of our blame.
Where Abel cried justice from earth soaked in red,
Christ’s blood cried out mercy when His veins were bled.
And just as that cord in Jericho’s wall
Stood bright when the towers of judgment did fall,
So the blood of the Christ still marks every door
Where faith has been fastened and fear reigns no more.
Not saved by our past. Not spared by our name.
But sheltered in Him who was willingly slain.
No wall strong enough. No sin too deep-seamed.
No life He cannot gather into His redeeming.
From Rahab to David. From David to Christ.
From the fall of a city to an empty tomb’s light.
The thread runs unbroken, through covenant and flame—
A single red line through salvation’s great name.
So look to the window your soul has made wide.
What hangs there as witness? What hope have you tied?
For only one color outlives every storm.
One story, one Savior, one blood that redeems.
