No signal on First boot

Hi all, medium time listener, first time poster

I’ve just built a new PC, pretty simple experience other than finding out one USB header for the case ports is in fact not reversible despite fitting both ways. I am still awaiting my SSD (thanks delivery company)but that shouldn’t prevent entering bios/UEFI - as I understand at least.

My issue: upon booting I get full lights on, fans on and a nice stable hum. BUT. When I connect a monitor via HDMI if get “no signal” when connected through the motherboard port, and “no connection” when connected through the GPU port.

I have plugged the monitor in with the same HDMI cable to my old laptop, works fine. I looked in the corner of my motherboard, no diagnosis lights illuminate.

I have troubleshooted:
- Removal of ram stick in slot 4, swapped the ram stick in slot 2.
- I have downloaded fresh bios and flashed it
- Removed the GPU
- Removed the CMOS battery for 10 minutes then powered on
- Plugged in a USB with bootable Linux mint(which again works on my laptop)
- Powered on and left it running for around 10 minutes since I found a comment saying sometimes it take a while to recognise the memory….

Rather at a loss as to what to try next. Any recommendations appreciated.
