Which cities in the world do you think will hold the throne forever? Or at least in your country?

In the past, we had powerful cities like Rome and Athens. Both collapsed during the Middle Ages and eventually rose from the ashes, but they no longer hold the same global importance they once did.

I’m asking this because I see a similar pattern in my own country. Brazil’s dominant cities have shifted positions over time: Recife and Salvador were overtaken by Rio de Janeiro, which was later overtaken by São Paulo (economically) and Brasília (in terms of political power). I hardly see São Paulo losing its spot in the next 200 years, but everything can change.

I also hardly think a city like Mexico City it will loose its spot - it is central and far from the shore.

There are some cities more in risk if sea levels indeed go wild - New York, Buenos Aires, Shanghai etc. But will this happen?
