Why does my accent change when i go to the Bahamas

Why does my accent change when I go back to the Bahamas or talk to anyone from the Carribean for that matter?

I grew up in the States but my family are Bahamians so I have always been around Bahamians as long as I’ve lived. I also go back to the Bahamas quite often.

One thing I’ve noticed though is my accent changes and mirrors a Bahamian accent. I don’t actually do it on purpose and I have had a few people in the Bahamas think i was living there and or born there. The other day I was talking to an old friend from Trinidad and realized I was once again talking with a Bahamian accent. Just weird to me especially since I don’t even do it on purpose.
