How are people downloading their own private Facebook videos in 2026?

Been seeing a lot of questions about this so I wanted to share a couple of methods that still work.

Facebook doesn’t really make it easy to download private videos, especially from groups or older posts, which is frustrating if you’re trying to back up memories.

Here are two approaches that work right now:

Method 1 : Using browser cookies
Works for your own videos, private groups you’re in, or videos shared with you.

• Log into Facebook
• Export your browser cookies (there are extensions that can do this)
• Use a downloader that supports cookies + video URL

Method 2 : Page source method
Doesn’t require extensions:

• Open the video in its own tab
• View page source
• Copy everything and use a tool that extracts the video link

Both methods usually let you download in original quality if available.

Just make sure you only download videos you already have permission to view.

Curious if anyone has found an easier way?
