The photo above was taken during Game 1 of the Philippine Cup Semis. Meralco - TNT and Ginebra - SMB

I also have photos and vids of the Quarterfinals series of Magnolia vs TNT and ROS vs Meralco also a ( almost ) full house.

Basketball fans ( and casual observers ) said that the Converge vs Ginebra QF series ( OT, JGDL 4 pointer and celly, Holt Game Winner ) was the catalyst for the "PBA is back", "PBA was never dying" , "PBA is great again" etc. narrative. Observers said that this was the start when the interest in the league started to pick up again. TV ratings and YouTube views shoot up as well as online and socmed chit chat and vloggers / podcast content. From my perspective I'd agree. Na observe ko na yung mga tambay na nagiinuman sa amin eh nagkaroon uli sila ng mga watch party. Especially nung finals.

And for the Quarterfinals match ups this conference, ano sa tingin niyo guys ang series na magiging catalyst again para yung PBA eh at least mapalapit uli to it's old glory and relevance. Kasi yung finals game 6 last conference na feature yung pila sa MOA sa tv patrol eh. I've never seen that in quite a while.

For Me :

ROS vs SMB. Despite ROS's injuries to it's key players, they will fight till the end and expect CYG and Chris Ross to make it very interesting. If you all know what I mean.

and

NLEX vs TNT. Especially in this scenario: It will go 2 games and will end in a Bolick unbelievable game- winner or with a Bol Bol super game with a game winner.

Sa tingin niyo guys?

P.S. I know there is a Bol Bol controversy right now and it might blow up but methinks bad publicity is still good publicity and looking at it right now, it might not affect the league that much. As fans know nagbibigayan naman sister teams and nangyayari naman yan before, yung pag pili ng kakalabanin.

Which series would be another catalyst?
