Are most BJJ gyms right leaning?

I’m starting to take BJJ more seriously now and as I get closer and closer to my teammates I realize a lot of them are mostly right leaning. I don’t really mind people being conservative. A lot of my views are conservative as well, but it’s more of the US right wing stuff that make me feel very uncomfortable.

There’s been lots of underhanded comments and show of some sort of ‘patriotism’ with the stickers, hats, and shirts. It just feels too much and it’s making me feel uncomfortable to even continue training at my gym.

I’ve looked at other gyms as well and it seems like most of the gyms nearby are like that… is this just how it is? I guess BJJ got popular because of Joe Rogan / UFC / Jocko.

But man, I’d really like to find a community that I can feel a part of. Maybe it’s just best I compartmentalize the political side and just ignore it, but I’m one that really likes to connect with others and if I find out our values aren’t aligned it makes things hard for me.
