Tested positive, now my anxiety is overwhelming
I found out that I’m pregnant 3 days ago, and ever since I feel like my anxiety has gone into overdrive. I’ve always suffered from an anxiety disorder, but generally have been able to manage it with some beta blockers (can no longer take as they aren’t pregnancy safe) and therapy.
Ever since learning of my pregnancy (which is very much wanted, as we’ve been TTC for about a year) I’ve had no appetite, I’ve been exhausted, and I have been dry heaving and throwing up. Everything feels overwhelming, and I can’t imagine going on with my normal life feeling like this. I don’t even know if it’s more my anxiety or pregnancy symptoms that are causing me to feel this way - probably both?
Strangely, my anxiety is less out of fear of losing the pregnancy (I feel prepared mentally that this is a possibility this early on) and more the fear of how I can continue on with day to day life while feeling like this.
I feel guilty because I have wanted this for so long, and I feel far more dread than happiness because of my body’s physical reaction to the news.
Can anyone who has gone through something similar please give any advice you can? My husband has been incredibly supportive but nobody else in my life knows yet (I want to wait until at least after our first appointment).
