can they still fall in love?

hiya, so one of my mii is best friend forever with another mii, and i wanted them to fall in love yada yada. i finally got one of them to fancy the other and wanting to confess but i was struggling to make them confess so i was just going around making them interact – they now live together even; but now the mii that was still with best friend forever was telling a story and made the mii that wanted to confess to go back to best friends forever and saying the feeling cool down 😭 can i still make it happen it’s like my 2nd playing this so idk
