I think it’s too late to solve the climate crisis. My generation might be the last to live a full life on this earth—if we’re lucky.
I’m a millennial. Since COVID the tiny bit of faith I had in humanity has gone firmly in the toilet. I know scientists keep shouting that it’s not too late if we act “now”, but we are not acting now—many countries are running headlong the wrong way.
I fully expect that if another pandemic or a nuclear war doesn’t happen first, my life will be cut short by the worsening climate, and those that came after me won’t even get this far. Makes me really glad I never wanted kids.
I don’t even feel hopeless. It’s hard to explain, I feel like our generation hasn’t had hope for the future since we were kids. I’m just enjoying life to the best I can now, enjoying wild spaces and clean lakes and bird song while I have them.
